Super Visa

Super Visa is a type of visa that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to visit Canada for up to two years at a time without the need to renew their status.

To be eligible for a Super Visa, the applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

  • Provide a letter of invitation from the child or grandchild who is sponsoring their visit.

  • Pass a medical exam.

  • Purchase private medical insurance for at least one year.

  • Show proof of financial support and ties to their home country.

  • Meet other admissibility requirements, such as not having a criminal record or being a security risk.

One of the main differences between the Super Visa and a regular Visitor Visa is the length of stay allowed. With a regular Visitor Visa, a visitor can typically stay in Canada for up to six months at a time. In contrast, a Super Visa allows parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to two years at a time, without needing to renew their status.

The processing time for a Super Visa application can vary depending on the country of citizenship, but it typically takes several months to receive a decision.

It's important to note that a Super Visa is not a permanent residency visa, and does not allow the holder to work in Canada.
